ACCESSIBILITY AT PLYMOUTH
Plymouth church provides the following accessibility aids to help the handicapped members and visitors to our church.
- We provide large print bulletins for persons that find it difficult to read standard print.
- Hearing aid units are available, making it possible to hear the pastor without any surrounding
background sounds.
- Space for wheelchairs is provided among the regular pews, giving the handicapped person a
more inclusive feeling during worship.
- Elevator lift serves entrance level, sanctuary level, and basement level for those using a
wheelchair or having difficulty negotiating stairs.
Building Faith Without Barriers
In 2000 and 2001 Plymouth undertook an ambitious construction project as
we added a narthex area, improved office space for both the church and the
Southwest Association, and a new nursery as well as spacious accessible
restrooms, and, most importantly, a lift!
This addition, accomplished at a cost of just over a half-million dollars, fulfills a vision of many in the congregation who, in years past, have seen some members cease attending worship because of physical disabilities. Our original building, constructed early in the century, simply had no access at ground level. Now, with our light-filled, spacious addition, the day draws nearer at Plymouth when all God's children may be fully accommodated in God's house and made comfortably welcome to participate in every aspect of the church's life.
